Hadley's Nursery

The day we found out that we were having a girl, I promptly went to Sherwin Williams and bought pink paint. A little crazy, I know. However, I knew how I wanted the room to look for a boy and the only thing I could decide on if it was going to be a girl, was the color. Therefore, after I painted it, I had to spend several hours online looking at nurseries trying to decide how I wanted it to look. I found several that I liked, but had to kind of throw a bunch of things I wanted into one room. This is the smallest room in our house, has a very large double window that takes up one whole wall and a pretty big closet. Therefore, the room is PERFECT for a nursery, but it's still a little tight. The room isn't 100% finished (the picture frame is still empty, for one), but it's definitely ready for baby Hadley! We are IN LOVE with her little room, it really makes us feel like we can tackle this "parenthood" thing. T-minus 2 1/2 weeks until we get to meet our little girl and take some pictures of her in it!

Snow Day in the South

It snowed, in Alabama? Heck yes it did, thank goodness for this whole global warming thing, it seems to be happening more often than it used to!

This week leading up to the actual snow was actually kind of crazy, the whole city had been delaying work and school for a few hours every morning in fear of something happening, but nothing ever did. Therefore, everyone was kind of not believing that anything was going to happen today! Here's a photo I took one night that it was around 15 degrees (which is unheard of around here!)

Absolutely stunning
Therefore, when today rolled around, I went to work as usual, and was actually working at the Mall today, which didn't decide to close their doors until around 2 pm, when the snow had already been coming down for a few hours. Once I finally got in my car to go, the main road through town, called the Parkway, had been closed and the only way home was through backroads. I still thought it would be quick to get home. WRONG. 2 hours later...I finally started to see the light at the end of the tunnel as I was making my way closer and closer home. When I pulled into the garage, it was a sigh of relief!! As soon as I walked in the house and was greeted by our furry little one, I knew I had to go outside with him and Dave and snap some photos.

Wherever you are, hope you're staying warm like we're trying to do!

Sephora Too Faced Giveaway!!

Can we talk about how one of my goals this year is to actually put makeup on more often. Ever since I quit my day job to do what I love, I find myself NEVER, can I repeat that, NEVER, put on makeup. If we decide to go out to dinner, yes, I might throw on some powder and mascara, but since when did I get so lazy and boring? I use to love experimenting with makeup and see where it took me. Thank goodness I still have my skills, but gracious, all of my makeup is aging as we speak. Therefore, one of my goals this year had to be wearing more makeup, more often. Just having fun with it while I can, because I'm sure once kids are in the picture, I really won't have time.

So I partnered with a few girls & Hey Sabrina Faith to bring you this adorable Bar Palette of Shadows!

Time Management in the New Year (Guest Post by Taylor!)

Hey Ladies! I've invited Taylor, this adorable girl below, to write a post on Lily&Wes this week, with the new year, brings new things, and new (attempted) ways to do things. I know I've made my list of goals & to-do's for 2015, but how do I manage to make them a reality? It's been my biggest down fall, but thanks to Taylor, she's going to share some of her tips on Time Management (Hallelujah, right?!)

Hello, new friends! My name is Taylor. I blog over at Live and Move, and I also own a brand strategy firm called Jubilant.

It may be just me, but the start of the new year is one of my busiest seasons. I'm a student, so I'm getting acclimated to new classes. My new year's resolutions add extra to-dos to my list. I'm catching up on things that got left by the wayside during the holiday season. In short, I'm swamped.

So when Kayla said I could write a guest post on Lily & Wes, I immediately knew what I wanted to share with you: tips for organizing your time in the new year.

1. Assign tasks to specific chunks of time.

I'm currently a student, a blogger, an entrepreneur, and a freelancer. The only way that I get anything done is by dedicating days to specific types of work. Mondays are for business. Wednesdays are for blogging. Fridays are for freelancing. Now, that's the system that works best for me. For you, it may be better to divide your tasks into half-days, hours, or minutes.

2. Invest in a good planner.

For whatever reason, things stick with me when I write them out by hand. I'm fiercely loyal to my old school planner. However, I know that some people stay organized with their Google calendar or iCal. The main point is that you need some type of organizational system to keep track of schedule.

3. Prioritize rest.

This sounds counterintuitive in a society that tells us we must always be doing, but I'm a firm believer in having time for being. Give yourself time to spend meaningful time with yourself and your loved ones. It will actually improve your work performance.

These are just a few of my go-to strategies for keeping my time organized. As a gift to you, I'm including and organization and time management worksheet from my upcoming ebook, below!

Right click & print or save!
I hope it's useful in making the most of your time.

If you'd like to keep in touch you can find me here:

Aren't these amazing tips?!? I definitely am going to start working on #2 by researching planners, I've got my eye on a few, but am afraid to pull the trigger because of their prices! I'll let you know what i do!

My New Surface Pro 3!

First off, you should know that my husband never KEEPS SECRETS. EVER. Every other time he has ever bought me a present that wasn't something I told him to, he can't seem to keep the secret longer than a week or so. This year, for some reason, he did a really great job of keeping my present a secret. The box was big, but very lightweight. Therefore, I had no idea what he had gotten me. Unfortunately, he had broken the news to me that it was quite expensive. However, I still really didn't know what it was.

Christmas Morning was really awesome because I knew he had done such a great job in keeping a secret, that I couldn't wait to open the present. Surprised is an understatement because I GOT A SURFACE PRO 3!!! You would've been surprised too! My computer works great and this was such a sweet surprise that was something I wanted and not needed. Which is rare now because I spend so much money on things I need and not things I want. Ugh, being a grown up is such a bummer sometimes.

Trying to contain my excitement while fighting off this furry creature!

I just thought I would share what I thought about my new computer!! I LOVE IT. It's taking me time to get used to the Windows 8 format, but besides that, everything has been amazing! It's amazing simply because it's a tablet & computer all in one! That means I now have Photoshop & Excel on the go, which is perfect for my little business and everyday life. Besides it being the perfect computer that can do almost anything, there are a few CONS, but they might just be cons to me.

1 // Only 1 USB port, but I quickly purchased this handy adapter to convert the 1 USB into 4 on Amazon for $7, super cheap addition and great for when I'm working and need a USB for my mouse, flash drive, and camera. It's makes me forget that I only have 1 USB!

2 // The kickstand is actually quite uncomfortable if you plan on using the keyboard in your lap. This was something that bothered me from day one, therefore, I quickly bought one of these covers that has a kickstand, it makes it much more comfortable and easier to use in my lap! This one was also from Amazon (I'm a Prime member, so almost everything I buy is from Amazon) for only $12. I didn't want to break the bank in case I didn't like it, but it's been amazing so far, so if this one ends up being cheap quality, I will just spend more money on a better one!

3 // It's Microsoft Store formatted, which means it doesn't have as many apps as Android or Apple Tablets do. However, it is a computer, so anything is within arms reach if I needed it. It's just a little less of an iPad in terms of the amount of games and fun little extra apps it has. There's no fix to this, except realizing that it's more of a computer than a tablet, which I have done!

Even though this computer does have a few cons, it really is an amazing piece of technology! It is perfect for my life right now and I LOVE finally having a tablet! I hope this helps you understand how much I like it, even though I've been an avid MacBook user for the past 3 years. Do any of you have one? Or think it's worth looking into?
